JANUARY 30: For the Love of Feet: Our feet are so vital to our daily life supporting us and moving us forward, yet we often take them for granted. Learn how to keep your feet in great shape and learn the connection between proper foot alignment and joint pain elsewhere in the body. You will do a full yoga class paying attention to how the placement of your feet affects the pose and the muscles that support you.
FEBRUARY 6: The Power of Breath: Our breath is the sleeping giant of our health! Let’s wake it! Leaning to consciously use the breath in movement and meditation helps make our lives easier. For this workshop we break down the breath into its four parts: inhale, retention, exhale, and suspension. Knowing these parts of the breath help us craft breathing exercises to help navigate our daily lives. We learn how to use the breath to help in yoga postures, and how to use the breath to help with stress reduction.
FEBRUARY 13: Lengthening the Spine: Having a long strong spine is critical to our overall health. Yoga helps us become more in touch with our spine and how its strength affects our limbs and posture. Necks and low backs send many of us to the doctor as we age. Learn ways to take care of your spine so that it stays strong throughout your life. We will do a spinal health yoga sequence and revisit how the breath and the feet aid in spinal health.
FEBRUARY 20: Linking Movement and Breath: Building on the basics of the earlier workshops, we learn how to use the breath to aid in movement both in a yoga class and in our daily lives. This workshop helps you find the grace of movement. Learning to move with your breath is wonderful for overall health both physical and mental.
FEBRUARY 27: Yoga off the Mat: In this workshop we review what we have learned in January and find ways to apply these concepts into our daily lives. We will learn simple ayurvedic practices to enhance our lives and help us live more in balance with nature and our daily rhythms.
MARCH 6: Crafting a Home Practice: Learn how to sequence a 20-minute practice that you can do easily at home. The focus of these weekday workshops is to empower students to transition into being their own teacher! Learn why poses are done at certain times of a class. Work to craft a doable daily practice that helps you stay centered and focused.
